How to Welcome First-Time Visitors Before They Arrive

Walking into a new church can feel like walking into someone else's family reunion. The good news is that your website can do a lot of the welcoming before a guest ever reaches the parking lot.

Make a "Plan Your Visit" page

Give first-time guests a page that is written just for them. Cover the basics: when to arrive, where to park, which door to use, what the service is like, and what happens with kids. Keep the tone warm and plain, like you are talking to a neighbor.

Show real faces

Photos of your actual people and building help guests picture themselves there. Add a short welcome from the pastor with a friendly photo. Stock photos have their place, but real ones build trust.

Let them say hello first

A simple form that says "Let us know you're coming" lets a greeter meet them at the door. Ask for a name and an email or phone number, and nothing more. The shorter the form, the more people fill it out.

Follow up kindly, and quickly
